Jolie-Pitt Foundation

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have formed the Jolie/Pitt Foundation to aid humanitarian causes around the world. The newly formed charitable foundation is giving away $1 million to the Global Action for Children and $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, to help families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.

The U.S. director for Global Action for Children, Jennifer Delaney, said: “Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying.”

The couple’s spokesman, Trevor Neilson, released a statement saying: “Angelina and Brad are committed to using their resources to help the world’s most vulnerable people. These two organizations are focusing on crises that receive far too little attention and Angelina and Brad are happy to do their part to help.”

And here’s a list of Brad and Angelina’s Banksy art purchases:

* $226,000: The “Picnic” painting depicts a white family of four merrily lunching under an umbrella on a red checked blanket while 15 starving Africans - including several children with distended bellies - look on.
* $75,000: A white bust with a bleeding bullet hole in the forehead - was a particular favorite of Jolie’s. “She went nuts for that one,” an onlooker told the mag. “She told [her baby daddy], ‘I must have that one.’”
* $75,000: Portrait of a man hit in the head with a custard pie.

Angel Of Mercy

Nurses and doctors at Hollywood's famed Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (who've endured more than their share of abusive behavior by snotty, bossy showbiz stars) are suddenly getting downright teary-eyed about the down-to-earth sweetness of Angelina Jolie to the staff.

Angelina Jolie accompanies cancer-stricken mom Marcheline Bertrand to her chemotherapy sessions and brings gift and is "truly an angel," an insider tells The National Enquirer.

"Angelina delights everyone she encounters," gushed an insider.

"She brings tons of baked goods and trinkets for the nurses, unfailingly makes chatty visits to other patients — then cheerfully signs autographs and poses for photos with anyone who asks while waiting for her mom. Said one awed source: "Angelina's one of the biggest stars this town's ever seen — but she never wants anyone to make a fuss over her!"

It's a shame that Angie's mother has cancer and she and Brad Pitt have to struggle with the uncertainty, but it's great to hear they can still be kind as they struggle.

Nicole Kidman vs. Angelina Jolie

Nicole Kidman has hit out at Angelina Jolie for using her charity work for publicity. The Oscar winning Aussie beauty, Nicole Kidman, is reported to have said that even though Angelina Jolie was doing no more than any nurse in a hospital, she was still getting more attention just because she was famous.

"It's not like Angelina is any better than a nurse working in a hospital but she's getting the publicity for her contribution," she quoted her, as telling Scotland's Daily Record newspaper.

The Australian actress is about to make her first trip to India as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Fund for Women.

"I have a friend who is a doctor and every year he works in Africa for two months for no money. So everyone is on the same playing field, whether you offer your services as the doctor or as Angelina does."

Like Nicole, Angelina is also a United Nations goodwill ambassador. Jolie is known for her humanitarian charity work too. She has previously visited victims of the 2005 Pakistan earthquake disaster on behalf of the UN, and donated all the money she and Brad raised from the sale of the first pictures of baby Shiloh to children's charity UNICEF.

Brad Pitt Showed "The Green"

Fatherhood has turned Brad Pitt into a leading philanthropist because he wants other children to realise the same advantages as his own. The movie star has embraced charity projects in Africa and hurricane-ravaged Louisiana since he started dating actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie, who gave birth to his first child Shiloh Nouvel earlier this year.

And he admits that family life with Angelina Jolie has inspired him to give more of his time and money. After sponsoring a design competition to build low-income, green housing in New Orleans - which ended yesterday, Brad Pitt admits he's desperate to help struggling families.

He explains, "To be able to have some small hand in improving anyone's life... I mean, I'm a father now and what that does to you is makes you more aware of other children and the plight of other families. It bothers me to see these people (in New Orleans) getting left behind and not getting a big hand up. These are the people that need the most help."

Giving back helps Brad Pitt accept his blessed life as a dad: "There are a lot of great things in my life and that comes from this family that we've created. It's incredibly grounding and, walking in the door at the end of the day and seeing these faces light up, I don't know anything more rewarding."

Jon Voight loves Shakira !

Jon Voight has been desperately trying to repair his relationship with estranged daughter Angelina Jolie by publicly requesting to see his grandchildren, but he may have further hampered their relationship by mistakenly calling his granddaughter Shakira instead of Zahara.

The veteran actor was caught on tape at the British Academy Of Film And Television Arts Tea Party on Saturday, where he was doing interviews on the red carpet. Entertainment news website TMZ.com has posted footage of Voight sending birthday wishes to his grandson Maddox saying, "Maddox just had a birthday. Happy birthday, Maddox! Five years old - it's a big one! You're going to be a young man, and I send my love out to you. And send my love to...uh...Shakira...and Shahira..."

The befuddled grandfather then asked the reporter, 'Is it Shakira or Shahira?' apparently confusing the one-and-a-half-year-old tot for the 29-year-old Colombian singer. When the reporter replied that the correct name of Angelina and Brad Pitt's adopted daughter was Zahara, the confused Voight added, "Shahara! Shahara!"

The couple's other daughter Shiloh Nouvel, who is three months old, failed to get a mention. Jolie and her father haven't spoken since he went on US entertainment show "Access Hollywood" four years ago, urging his daughter to get help for her "mental problems."

Jolie & Pitt Avoiding Jon Voight

At a Hollywood birthday event for her boyfriend's co-star, Angelina Jolie refused to enter the party scene until her estranged father had left. The gorgeous actress and her boyfriend, Brad Pitt, turned up to actor Scott Caan's Hollywood birthday bash, only to realize that her dad, actor Jon Voight, had also been invited.

Angelina-who has not spoken to her father since he said on television that she had "mental problems" in 2002-was so determined not to come face-to-face with the her actor father that she and Brad waited outside in a car for half-an-hour.

Brad eventually ventured inside alone to send his birthday wishes to Caan-his "Ocean's Thirteen" co-star-and moments after he appeared, Voight left.

Once the coast was clear, Angelina, entered through the back door.

George Clooney Feels Left Out

George Clooney feels left out on the set of Ocean's Thirteen because castmates and pals Brad Pitt and Matt Damon are bonding over their new babies.

Damon's wife Luciana Barroso gave birth to their first child together, daughter Isabella, in June, just weeks after Angelina Jolie delivered her and Pitt's baby Shiloh Nouvel in Namibia.

So the pair have been sharing tips and stories, to the exclusion of childless bachelor Clooney. According to reports the Oscar winner has nicknamed the pair the "new dad's club."

'Capote' Screenwriter & Angelina Jolie

Capote screenwriter Dan Futterman has secretly been cast opposite Angelina Jolie in a film about slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Jolie made headlines last month when it was announced she was playing Pearl's widow Marianne in the film adaptation of her 2003 memoir "A Mighty Heart."

But Paramount Pictures made no mention at the time of who would be playing her husband, leading many to speculate the role was yet to be cast. In fact, Futterman, who is best known for his recurring role on TV drama Judging Amy, had already been selected and was secretly filming in Pakistan.

The casting was kept a closely guarded secret because of security concerns and crewmembers were sworn to secrecy during the 10-day shoot on location in Karachi and Islamabad. Director Michael Winterbottom and a skeleton crew went to Pakistan undercover, hoping to be mistaken for a documentary or news crew.

Futterman, who agreed to be interviewed only after he returned to the US, tells the Washington Post, "It was important to shoot in the actual places where things happened. There are lots of little things that were important to (Winterbottom), not least of all the people and the sound of the language spoken."

Pearl was a respected journalist at the time he was abducted and killed in Pakistan - four months before his wife gave birth to their son - while researching a story about Muslim fundamentalists.

Mommy Time Away From Brad

Angelina Jolie has told Brad Pitt she has no intention of being a stay-at-home housewife and already has plans to take her children on a trip to Africa, leaving the actor home alone. The actress, who gave birth to the couple's biological child Shiloh Nouvel in May, is adamant her three children will grow up outside of the Hollywood bubble and see the world as it really is.

Jolie says, "I want to take all three children back to Africa. I can squeeze in a break before starting work and I want to give them a little 'Mommy time' away from Brad."

A close friend tells British newspaper the Sunday Express, "If Brad wants to keep hold of his family, he is going to have to learn to be careful about how he treats Angie. She is not the home-body he is and wants the kids to grow up as 'citizens of the world', speaking several languages and with a broad perspective on life.

"She hates the idea of them growing up in the insular world of Hollywood as the spoilt brats of movie stars who expect everything to be handed to them on a plate."
